Anna Maria Kuppe was born in the Rhineland (Germany) and spent her teenage years in the Ruhr region. She trained as an industrial clerk and, after returning to the Rhineland, worked at a language school for over thirty years. In 2010, her two male cats passed away in quick succession. The author wrote down the stories she had shared with them, and this became her first book. Since then, David and Dennis have captured the hearts of more than just children. A novel followed, and she publishes works in the children's book and fiction genres.
