A new scientific era is dawning, where autonomous systems can transform the pace of discovery. This work traces how neuro-symbolic AI--bridging neural intuition and symbolic logic--offers a path beyond the fragility of sheer model scaling. It blends history, from Leibniz and Gauss to overlooked pioneers of deep learning, with present critiques of today's brittle LLMs and fragile economics. It showcases concrete breakthroughs: original AI-generated proofs in mathematics and physics, and a paradigm called Software 3.0 that turns high-level goals into runtime experiments. At its center stands the resilient story of an immigrant outsider who built order from chaos and then a company to embody this clarity. What happens when science itself becomes the domain of tireless, verifiable AI-Scientists--and what responsibilities emerge when innovation no longer knows human limits?
Marius-Constantin Dinu is a Romanian-Austrian computer scientist, researcher, and entrepreneur devoted to advancing artificial intelligence. Born in Bucharest and raised in Austria, he studied software engineering in Hagenberg, then pursued a Master's and Ph.D. in machine learning at Johannes Kepler University under AI pioneer Sepp Hochreiter, with his thesis evaluated by Gary Marcus. His work spans reinforcement learning, domain adaptation, and neuro-symbolic AI, with publications at top conferences. As founder and CEO of ExtensityAI, he develops reasoning engines and a new software paradigm - Software 3.0. Recognized among Europe's promising AI founders, he explores how neuro-symbolic architectures can automate scientific discoveries. His main focus isguided by the belief that verification, rigor, and algorithmic self-evolution will shape the future of intelligence.
