FMEA Expertise: From Practice to Practice

The author, an experienced mechanical engineer, has been deeply involved in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) within the automotive supply industry since 2002. Starting in quality management, he developed a systematic approach based on VDA 4.2, successfully implementing it in over 100 projects - both Design-FMEA and Process-FMEA. Furthermore He was responsible for application of different QM tools, like Poka Yoke, 8D reporting or Special Characteristics.

In 2016, on the recommendation of a customer, his company was invited by the VDA to review the draft of the "AIAG/VDA FMEA Handbook 2019". He later expanded his Design-FMEA expertise to the system level in the automotive e-mobility sector, gaining profound insights into the challenges of developing highly complex systems.

As an QM tool specialist, he leverages his extensive experience to pragmatically and effectively advance the "zero-defect goal" in production, product development, and quality management. Since 2024, he has been working as a freelance engineer for FMEA and failure prevention, sharing his knowledge in this book.
