Nuclear armageddon turned the world upside down. Many children lose their parents. Among which is Solveig. Ever since their parents died, she does her best to ensure her little sister, Lovisa, is fine. But life in the midst of nuclear winter is harsh.
Summertime Snowflakes is about holding together, making something new from old, but also about losing things we take for granted. About a girl with dreams, and others holding her back. About defiance and helplessness.
I was born in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, on the 4th of October 2005. I now live in Karlstad, Sweden, where I am studying physics. Growing up as an only-child with loving parents is about as big of a difference as I could possibly have to Solveig. But while the only real similarity we have may be an interest in science, I feel like I would have done and felt and observed everything just the way she did. Also, I had dreamt of having siblings, so it was not that hard to imagine having a little Lovisa somewhere around.
