This book is a unique collection of early documents and research on Usui Mikao's Reiki therapy, compiled by Olaf Böhm during his numerous journeys to Japan. For the first time, this work publishes, in its entirety, some writings of the early Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, the Reiki community founded by Usui Mikao Sensei in 1922. It also presents some very interesting views about Japan and its psycho-spiritual methods from a hundred years ago, as well as insights into the lifetime of Usui Mikao.
The book aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the history of Reiki and to provide insight into the beginnings of Reiki therapy in the 1920s and 1930s. It is intended for Reiki practitioners from all lineages, as well as those who want to learn more about Reiki history. This book is a must-have in every good Reiki library.
Olaf Böhm became a Reiki practitioner in 2003 while in India. In 2008, he attained the title of Gendai Reiki Ho Reiki Master under the guidance of Doi Hiroshi Sensei and also became a Komyo Reiki Kai teacher (now Komyo ReikiDo) with Inamoto Hyakuten Sensei. Driven by a passion to understand the origins of Reiki, he has made regular trips to Japan to meet his teachers and uncover the last traces of Usui Mikao Sensei and his students, especially since information on Usui Reiki therapy before World War II is scarce.
In addition to his journeys to Japan and India, he works in mental health care services in Germany. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and plans to offer more history workshops and Reiki classes in the near future. His teaching philosophy focuses on preserving the authenticity of traditional Reiki while making it accessible and relevant to contemporary practitioners.
Olaf is becoming well-known in the global Reiki community, contributing to discussions and collaborating with fellow practitioners to advance the understanding of Reiki. He was one of the main presenters at the centenary of Usui Reiki Ryoho in 2023 in Osaka. His future projects include further research into Reikis history and the publication of additional works on the subject.
