Elli Mariyama Manneh is an antidiscrimination consultant and activist. The native Gambian was illegally adopted into a white family in Germany as a toddler. In 2020 Elli went public with her thoughts on growing up between racism and longing for the first time on her social media account Blackinwhitefamily. With her provocative, social-critical statements about adoption and discrimination and her authentic, vulnerable personality she gained international recognition. She has been portrayed in several podcasts, the Afrotopia NDS traveling exhibition, and Zeitmagazin Deutschland, among others. In 2024, she founded her first association, Tanta e.V. Elli lives in Hanover with her two cats.
