My Life Between Light and Shadow tells the moving life story of Monoara Moos.

Born in Bangladesh in 1973, she came to Switzerland as a small child and grew up in an adoptive family. It was only there that it was discovered she was deaf. She had to learn to navigate a world she could not hear. Her childhood and adolescence were marked by difficult experiences, loneliness, and the search for her own identity.

Even as an adult, life continues to present her with major challenges. The birth of her daughter gives her new strength and becomes a central focus of her life. Despite setbacks, illness, and painful blows of fate, Monoara never gives up.

One question has stayed with her for decades: Where do I really come from?

After years of searching, the almost unimaginable finally happens: With the help of journalist Munzurul Karim, she finds her biological family in Bangladesh. A DNA test confirms it, and after 47 years, she is able to embrace her half-sisters in person.
