Shin Jinseo was born in Busan in 2000. At the age of four, he began learning Go at his father´s academy. Showing exceptional and undeniable talent, he surpassed his father within just two years. In 2012, he became a professional player through the inaugural Gifted Young Professional Qualifier. In 2018, he swept the awards for Most Wins, Highest Win Rate, and Longest Winning Streak, and was named the Go MVP. His long-held dream of winning a major international title came true in 2020 when he triumphed at the LG Cup. Shin Jinseo first reached the number one position in the Korean Go rankings in January 2020 and has held the top spot for over five years. Soon after he was ranked first in the world and is widely recognised as the strongest Go player of his time.
