Since my childhood, I have been a huge fan of Dame Margaret Rutherford, alias Miss Marple. I still love her black-and-white films to this day. Later, my interest grew in the 1920s and the Weimar Republic. In 2015, I traveled down the Nile on the SS Sudan - the very ship where Agatha Christie had the idea for her novel "Death on the Nile". I stayed at the "Winter Palace Hotel" in Luxor and the "Old Cataract Hotel" in Aswan. In 2008, I was even able to take a look inside the "Pera Palace Hotel" in Istanbul before it was renovated - it was a true journey through time! Later, I enjoyed dinner at the "Mena House", where a kind concierge showed me Agatha Christie's room. What is still missing? The Orient Express! The idea of writing a detective novel with a small pinch of "spice" had been on my mind for a long time - and sometimes it takes a while for everything to finally come together.
