When people look at Hattvika Lodge today, its cabins glowing against the Arctic sky, guests heading out on kayak tours, and dinner plates at Fangst crowned with the flavours of the season, they see a dream come true.
But behind every restored rorbu, every activity guided, every steaming cup of coffee handed to a guest after a windswept adventure, there are faces and hands, hearts and souls, without whom none of this would have been possible. This is the heartbeat of Hattvika Lodge, and that, more than anything, is the story we want to tell.
Roland Hummer was born in Austria, but his life has unfolded far beyond its borders. An adventurer, artist, and writer, he has traveled from the Himalayas to the jungles of Suriname, from Kazakhstan's deserts to the raw coastlines of Norway's Lofoten Islands. His work bridges outer exploration and inner transformation, guiding people through wild landscapes while inviting reflection, presence, and depth. Curiosity has always been his compass. Roland believes stories are the lasting footprints of any journey, carrying meaning long after the road ends. He first arrived at Hattvika as a guest in 2017. What began as a stay soon became a calling. Drawn back to Lofoten, he returned as a collaborator, becoming a cornerstone in the development of Hattvika Lodge and a trusted mentor to its owners, helping shape vision, culture, and direction with experience, clarity, and heart.
