Horns & Hearts in Rhino Country
A Warm, Humorous, and Heartfelt Story for All Generations
In the first book of Gusta & Gusto, we follow Gusta, the graceful Rhino Lady, and her friend Gusto, the charming Rhino Gentleman, through six imaginative stories set in Rhino Country - tales filled with friendship, courage, self-confidence, generosity, and heartfelt warmth. Their contrasting personalities create delightful, heart-opening moments. As they navigate their everyday lives, they learn to trust themselves and to follow the compass of their heart. They support each other and master challenges with creativity and grace.
With humor, curiosity, a poetic sensitivity to life's small wonders, and gentle animal wisdom, Gusta and Gusto grow through their adventures, discovering the beauty of life again and again - sometimes appearing unexpectedly, sometimes through spontaneous intuition.
In a tender, human way, the two rhinos experience emotions and small misunderstandings as they learn to shift perspectives and navigate their feelings, discovering the magic that can arise from friendship, trust, and authenticity.
Timeless as salt: stories of hope, recognition, and glory - with a blend of universal themes that enrich everyday life and inspire the inner world.
Told in clear, accessible language and shaped with emotional depth, the stories invite readers of all ages to pause, connect, and welcome a touch of friendship into their own lives. Suitable for shared read-aloud moments and independent discovery for children, teens, and adults alike.
A high-quality hardcover for families, bookstores, libraries, and all those who appreciate stories with soul and character. The lovingly crafted illustrations add charm, lightness, and visual warmth - making the book a wonderful choice for displays and as a meaningful gift.
Published by Gusta & Gusto Publishing House, with a focus on clear typography, readability, and accessibility-aware design - inspired by current guidelines for accessible reading (BFSG).
For rhinos and humans of all ages - from every corner of the world - these are stories with heart, humor, kindness, generosity, and depth from two cosmopolitan rhino friends. Ideal for cozy reading at home - together or alone - and also a welcome guest in classrooms. For anyone who loves tales that inspire connection, friendship, and courage. Lea Sakran

Lea Sakran is an author, storyteller, and professional voiceover artist based in Switzerland.
Stories have accompanied her since childhood as a source of courage, perspective shifts, and connection. With a background in music, theatre, and artistic expression, she brings narrative worlds to life with warmth, precision, and emotional depth.
She has worked at state theatres and in the independent scene as a writer, director, actor, and production lead, creating theatre and musical productions. In addition, she has contributed to opera productions, including work in text development and dramaturgy. For more than seven years, she taught creative writing and wrote over 100 scripts for image films, developing a strong sense of rhythm, narrative structure, and voice.
Drawing on her bilingual background and her refined sensitivity to cultural translation and storytelling across linguistic and cultural boundaries, Lea Sakran wrote the first volume of Gusta and Gusto — Horns and Hearts in Rhino Country in both English and German to make the stories accessible to an international audience. She believes that the strongest versions of a work emerge through dialogue between languages and cultures. She shaped each edition with cultural sensitivity in language and imagery, preserving the narrative’s tone, warmth, and subtle nuances.
With Gusta and Gusto — Horns and Hearts in Rhino Country (Book 1), the author invites readers of all ages on a warm, humorous journey that, in its lightness, carries a quiet depth of wisdom — an approach that runs throughout her work and opens windows to broader perspectives.
Lea Sakran has appeared as a guest on various podcasts, sharing insights on storytelling, voice, and creative work. She is the founder of Gusta & Gusto Publishing House.
