"Fragments of a Reality'' is a verse novel of a life told in fractured glimpses that reveals a harsh truth of being mentally ill Nigeria- and in so many societies today. We follow Ije navigate existing in a religious fanatical Family as the "strange child". Soon this strangeness is tackle by sending Ije to church to deliverance. This horrifying experience triggers the emergence of OBODO - a mysterious entity, a friend who has waited in the darkness for years?. As Ije returns home, the barrier between imagined and reality begin to dangerously blur. Tragedy strikes again and again, leading to a final act of mercy - OBODO offers Ije an escape from a world than never loved them.

Esther Njoku is a curious mind with a passion for art as a tool for understanding our realities. She is a member of ore arts collective - based in Heidelberg. She balances her full-time career as a nurse with her work as a visual artist. As a woman of Nigerian descent, she explores topics on migration, heritage and mental health through her writing. Her debut book, Fragment of a reality, is a reflection of her journey in understanding the complexity of the human mind.
