eSports Library is a first collection of guest articles by the author Timo Schöber, which have been published on different platforms online or in print. The contributions deal with different aspects of electronic sports, called eSports. From politics and society, to popular and professional sports, to definitional issues and argumentation against prejudice, many different topics are included in this collection. This anthology offers a very comprehensive overview of the history, status quo, as well as potentials for the future of eSports.
Timo Schöber (*1983) is a former eSports athlete. With the book Bildschirm-Athleten (Screen Athletes), he published the first comprehensive non-fiction book on the topic of eSports. In addition, he is active in eSports for various organizations and as leader of several projects.
Jens Junge
Prof. Dr. Jens Junge has been active in the games industry as an entrepreneur and lecturer since 1984. He completed his training in publishing at SpielBox, the trade magazine for board games. He began developing digital, web-based games (browser games, casual games) in 1999, and created his first "apps" for mobile devices in the spring of CeBIT 2004. In 2006, he founded the company Mediatrust, which operates the portal spielen.de, among other things. Since 2011 he is professor in Berlin and leads the Institute for Ludology from 2014.
