Mehr InfosThis is the second book in the series of learning and teaching materials on Even language and culture that is on clothing and decorative arts. The given collection of texts provides us with a broad documentation of this intriguing part of Even material culture and art work. The information that is given in Even language with Russian and English translations documents as well the particular dialect that is spoken by the Evens who once made their home in the southern parts of Kamchatka. Besides academic purposes these editions are aimed to sustain the particular local speech and knowledge of the Even people who live in Kamchatka, and to encourage and support their transmission to future generations.
Erich Kasten (Hrsg.)
Erich Kasten studied social and cultural anthropology and taught at the Free University of Berlin. He has conducted extensive field research in the Canadian Pacific Northwest and in Kamchatka and has curated international museum exhibitions. As the first coordinator of the Siberian research group at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle, he studied transformations in Post-Soviet Siberia. In ensuing projects for UNESCO and the National Science Foundation, he documented and analyzed indigenous knowledge. Since 2010 he has been the director of the Foundation for Siberian Cultures in Fürstenberg/Havel (Germany). More recently he has also applied himself to developing web archives and Internet interfaces with the purpose of enhancing access and sustaining endangered cultural heritage.
Raisa Avak (Hrsg.)
Raisa Avak is the director of the Teacher's College in Palana, Kamchatka, where she is the specialist on Even language.
