While working on a regular IT job in India, I heard about a volunteering year in Germany and saw this as the key to my independent world. Despite facing numerous rejections, I eventually made it to Germany. What was it like to start fresh in a foreign country, coming from a conservative Tamil Christian family?

This book is the realization of a big dream - a short autobiography of my life journey in Germany. It recounts my immersion in a new culture and way of life, my connections with the people, my cultural shocks and my efforts to maintain my traditions and authenticity.
