BIGGER THAN US

BIGGER THAN US is a fine art photography book that preserves the beauty of the Alps in colour and black and white. It is a quiet reflection on scale, stillness, and our place within the natural world.

The book brings together twenty photographs, divided into two parts. Ten colour images reveal the subtle tones of ice and snow, while ten black-and-white photographs focus on shape, structure, and contrast.

Working with film, Simon Kappeler captures these landscapes through light, texture, and form. The images preserve moments in time, where the absence of human presence allows the mountains to exist on their own terms.

They invite a slower way of looking and a quiet sense of humility in the face of something bigger than us.
