With the sun casting a magical winter glow, turning the veil of mist in the forest into floating glitter, illuminating a crystal of snow from one snowflake into another, the reflective lights brightening the horizon and tickling your nose, melting icicles along the waterfall and the slow awakening of Mother Nature.

Not many people in life feel like the warm glow of sunlight on cold winter days.

The darkness and the cold, two unpleasant things that we often associate with winter. Dive into the world of apricity, where warmth and affection embrace you like a long lost friend. There is comfort in the words written among those winter days, and the trust that one is not alone in the dark.
Let your worries melt away and let the charm of words draw you into the magic of poetry.

A collection of poems about the sensations at times that feel like winter.

Written for the Young Storyteller Award 2023.

Hannah Christina

Hannah Christina is in her twenties and majors in American Studies and Economics. She has always been involved in arts and culture and has been traveling since she was a kid. She spent her childhood in the Lower Rhine area with her family and her dog. Despite the time she spent growing up in her hometown, she has been suffering from a functional neurological disorder. Fearful and uncertain feelings accompanied her for years. Poetry appeared to be a way out, not a distraction, but much more a confrontation. Her poems served as an anchor, preventing her from drowning in the sea of deep sensations. By the time she was 16, she spent her summer in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto, and started writing for the first time. She soon realized that not only were the words she was writing evolving, but so was she. Apparently, that was the summer when the writer in her was born.
